Website Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy governs the processing of personal data of users (hereinafter referred to as “User” or “Users”), collected in the context of their interactions with PwC as the data controller, primarily through the use of the website www.pwc.pt (hereinafter referred to as “Site”).

PwC Portugal legal entities are listed below:

  • PricewaterhouseCoopers & Associados-Sociedade de Revisores Oficiais de Contas, Lda.,

  • PricewaterhouseCoopers / MFAS – Management, Finance & Accounting Services, Lda.

  • PricewaterhouseCoopers Tax Services TLS, Lda.,

  • PricewaterhouseCoopers Assessoria de Gestão, Lda.,

  • PricewaterhouseCoopers Digital Technology Consulting, Lda.,

  • PricewaterhouseCoopers Legal, SP, RL.

Each of these entities is part of the PricewaterhouseCoopers International Limited network, representing independent and autonomous legal entities. The personal data processed by the aforementioned entities may be transferred to other companies within the global PwC network to fulfill the purposes for which the User submitted the personal data. By providing personal data on the PwC website, the User explicitly consents to the transfer of personal data to companies within the global PwC network for the execution of their requests.


Data Collection

We only collect personally identifiable information that is specifically and voluntarily provided by Users to the PwC website. PwC receives limited identification information, such as name, title, company address, email address, and phone numbers from website Users. Generally, identification information is collected for the following purposes:

  • Registration for certain areas of the site

  • Distribution of requested reference materials

  • Submission of resumes

  • Enrollment in courses and seminars

  • Sending newsletters and other updates

  • Responding to contact requests

  • Sending relevant communications

  • Providing the site and analyzing its use and interaction

Demographic information, including gender and occupation, is not usually required but may be submitted when a User responds to an online job application. PwC adheres to the principle of minimization by limiting the collection of information to what is sufficient, adequate, and relevant to meet the User's requests. In cases where non-mandatory information is requested, the website User will be notified at the time of data collection.

Users may also send emails through the site. Each message will include the user's name and email address, as well as any additional information the user deems important to include in the message. Since our site is a recruitment tool, a visit to our site may also result in the user sending a resume to a PwC recipient.

Except as provided by law, the processing of personal data related to philosophical or political beliefs, party or trade union affiliation, religious faith, private life, and racial or ethnic origin, as well as the processing of data related to health and sexual life, including genetic data, is prohibited. At no time is the collection of sensitive data requested or encouraged.


Use of Personal Data

A User may, for example, provide personal information in the following situations:

  • Order publications

  • Submit resumes or work history information

  • Participatein “group or email list” initiatives

  • Participate in bulletin boards, discussion or message forums

  • Contact us for additional information

  • Enter Quick Surveys, Quiz or Benchmarking analyses

  • Register for events and conferences

  • Register for premium online services

The information obtained by the site is used exclusively for the purposes stated at the time the information is collected.

PwC makes its best efforts to avoid the collection of excessive or irrelevant data.

Except for the mailing lists described above, where Users explicitly choose to receive specific PwC marketing or other materials, PwC will not use the personal data collected on our websites to promote unsolicited marketing activities.


Cookies and log files 

Cookies may be used on some pages of our website. 'Cookies' are small text files located on your hard drive that assist us in providing a more customized website experience. For example, a cookie can be used to store registration information in an area of the site so that a user does not need to re-enter it  on a subsequent visit to that area. It is PwC's policy to use cookies to facilitate users' navigation on our site, as well as to assist efficient registration procedures.

If the use of cookies concerns you, many browsers allow you to reject them. In most cases, a user can refuse a cookie and continue browsing the websites.

In order to properly manage our website, we may log information anonymously in our operating systems, identifying categories of users by items such as domains or browser types. These statistics are reported in aggregate to our Web Administrator. This way, we ensure that our website provides the best web experience to users and is an effective information resource.


Third Parties

It is PwC's policy only to disclose information to third parties under the following circumstances:

  • As required by law through a judicial notification, search warrant, or other legal process

  • When explicitly requested by the data subject

  • When required to deliver publications or reference materials requested by a user

  • When required to organize conferences or events hosted by third parties 

PwC websites do not store or collect personally identifiable information for disclosure or sale to third parties for consumer marketing purposes or to send emails on behalf of third parties.


Third-Party links

There are several locations through pwcglobal.com and pwc.com that may access other websites that do not operate under PwC's privacy practices. Whenever you access other websites, PwC's privacy practices and policies no longer apply. We advise users to review all privacy policies of the sites before providing any personally identifiable information.


Data Storage

Some of the information we receive is not retained. For example, we usually do not store email addresses we receive for the dissemination of newsletters or advertising propaganda. Users' contacts (such as information generated through registration for access to certain areas on the site) will be stored as long as necessary to respond to requests or until a user requests that we delete that information. Mailing lists information, comment boxes, and emails are stored only the period of time considered  reasonable  to facilitate users' requests. Resumes are only deleted when they are no longer under consideration or considered outdated by our Human Resources department.

It is our policy not to require users to register to access areas of PwC websites. However, in some cases, in the future, we may ask users to register to obtain a user ID and password for authentication and secure access to a transaction, certain confidential business, or premium information services on websites.

Personally identifiable information provided to PwC through its website is voluntarily provided by users. If you wish to unsubscribe from email lists or any registrations, instructions can be found in the appropriate area of the website or in communications to our visitors.


Data Subject Rights

As a data subject, you can request from us at any time:

  • Access to the information we hold about you;

  • Rectification of the information if it is inaccurate or incomplete;

  • Erasure or limitation of the processing of your personal data;

  • If the processing is based  on your consent or agreement and is carried out by automated means, you have the right to receive  the personal data previously provided, in a structured, commonly used, and machine-readable format.

Your requests will be handled with special care so that we can ensure the effectiveness of your rights. You may be asked to prove your identity to ensure that the sharing of personal data is only done with its owner.

You should be aware that in certain cases (for example, due to legal requirements) your request may not be immediately fulfilled.

In any case, you will be informed of the measures taken in this regard within one month from the time the request is made.

You also have the right to file a complaint with the National Data Protection Commission https://www.cnpd.pt/.


Right of access

The data subject has the right to obtain confirmation from PwC as to whether or not personal data concerning them is being processed and, if so, to access their personal data and the information required by law.

If you require more than one copy of your personal data being processed, PwC will charge  a fee for this service to cover administrative costs.


Right to rectification

The data subject has the right to obtain from PwC, without undue delay, the rectification of inaccurate or incomplete data concerning him/her.


Right to erasure of data ("right to be forgotten")

The data subject has the right to obtain from PwC the erasure of his/her data, without undue delay, and PwC has the obligation to erase personal data, without undue delay, when one of the following reasons applies:

a) The personal data is no longer necessary for the purpose that motivated its collection or processing;

b) The data subject has withdrawn his/her consent to the  processing of data (in cases where processing is based on consent) and there is no other legal basis for the processing;

c) The data subject objects to the processing and there are no overriding legitimate interests for the processing.

If consent is legally required for the processing of personal data, the data subject has the right to withdraw consent at any time, although this right does not compromise the lawfulness of the processing carried out based on the consent previously given nor the subsequent processing of the same data, based on another legal basis, such as compliance with the contract or legal obligation to which PwC is subject.


Right to restriction of processing

The data subject has the right to obtain from PwC restriction of processing if one of the following situations applies:

a) Contesting the accuracy of personal data, for a period that allows PwC to verify its accuracy;

b) The processing is lawful and the data subject opposes the erasure of personal data and requests the restriction of its use instead;

c) PwC no longer needs the personal data for processing purposes, but the data is required by the data subject for the establishment, exercise, or defense of legal claims;

d) The data subject has objected to the processing, pending verification of whether the legitimate grounds of the controller override those of the data subject.


Right to data portability

Where the processing is based on the data subject's consent and such consent was given  by automated means, the data subject has the right to receive the personal data concerning him/her which he/she has provided to PwC, in a structured, commonly used, and machine-readable format.


Right to object

In cases where data processing is carried out for the purposes of 1) the legitimate interests pursued by PwC; 2) direct marketing or 3) profiling, the data subject may, at any time, object to the processing of their data.

The data subject can exercise any of the above-identified rights by sending an email to pt_pt_data_office@pwc.com or alternatively through  PwC’s Privacy Portal.

PwC is committed to providing adequate access to users to allow them the opportunity to identify and correct any inaccuracies. When requested, PwC will delete identifying information from current systems.

When PwC retains personally identifiable  information, it assumes the responsibility of keeping an accurate record of the information, once submitted by the user and after verification of the data by the visitor. Where possible, if PwC is informed that certain information collected through the website is no longer accurate, PwC will make the necessary corrections based on the update provided by the authenticated user.


Security

PwC has implemented appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect personal data against loss, misuse, alteration, or destruction. All PwC employees follow a network security policy. Only authorized PwC employees have access to personal data, and they are also bound by confidentiality obligations. It is PwC's policy to use encrypted http technology to protect credit card information submitted via the internet. This policy also applies to all agents of our firms.


Children

PwC sites are not intended for use by minors (17 years of age or younger). It is not PwC's policy or intention to intentionally collect and process personal data from minors.


Modifications

PwC reserves the right to modify or alter this Statement at any time, so it is advisable to review it periodically.
