Maria Antónia Araújo is a Legal Manager at PwC Portugal in the Public Law and Data Protection practice area. She mainly develops her practice in the areas of Public Law, Administrative Law, Regulation and Data Protection, working with both private companies and public entities.
In previous professional roles, Maria Antónia Araújo collaborated in the drafting, amendment, and review of a wide range of legislative acts namely, the Code of Public Contracts, the Legal Framework for Urbanisation and Buildings, the new Regime for Urban Leases, the Legal Framework applicable to the provision of Postal Services. She also participated in designing measures for the pursuit of public policies in the areas of infrastructure, communications, civil aviation, the ports sector, railway transportation, housing and urban redevelopment.
Before joining PwC’s Legal services (previously CCR Legal), between 2017 and 2024 she was Head of Office to the Minister for Infrastructure and Housing, to the Secretary of State for Infrastructure and to the Secretary of State for Housing. Between 2015 and 2017, she worked as a Legal Adviser for the Secretary of State’s Office for the Presidency of the Council of Ministers.
Previously, she dedicated twelve years to the practice of law, with a particular focus on civil litigation and economic criminal law.
During this period, she collaborated with Carlos Pinto de Abreu and Associates – Law Firm RL where, until December 2015 she remained as a Senior Associate.
She began her professional activity as a Trainee Lawyer in 2003 at Athayde de Tavares, Pereira da Rosa & Associates – Law Firm RL.
